Touch rugby referees are responsible for ensuring that the rules of the game are fairly and equitably enforced during a match.  A referees need to understand how touch is played, what the rules are and how to apply them in order to make the game safe, fun and fair.  A referee needs to be reasonably fit and able to assert his or her authority without becoming angry or abusive.
 
Prospective referees will need to attend a basic referees course which consists of:

  • A classroom based training session and exam
  • An on field practical training session
  • Referee matches where you are assessed and counciled
  • On passing the exam and demostrating that you can effectively referee matches, you will be awarded a SATA Touch Rugby Referees Certificate.
